Data Analyst
2 days Peterborough/Remote
Up to £58kpa

Our client is a major distributer of products to the Retail sector. Their IT Department is responsible for running and enhancing core systems and building new applications that manage their business end to end. Some systems manage the Supply Chain and Logistics and others provide vital data insights on sales performance for each product in each store, predicting trends and when to replenish stocks and much more.

It is on the data side of the department that is expanding for continuous improvement in what they are already doing but also to support growth to supply new additional products to their customer base. We therefore are looking for a Data Analyst to join an existing team of 10 data analysts, reporting into a team manager who reports into the Global Head of Data and Insights.

This team effectively provides intelligence on performance and forecasting of sales to the business. For existing products and sales, they are able to determine what products are selling best and where, when to replenish, how to promote and feedback on what is working, where to move products to. For new products, they don’t have history to build on so looking at data forecasting models building in price elasticity, potentially incorporating Bayesian Networks, Clustering analysis and so on. This role will work across both areas in a very varied role where no 2 days are the same.

The role is Data Analysis but also tweaking and building new algorithms into systems. The tool they use is SAS but any Data Analytics tool is fine. You will need to be numerate (strong Maths background) and love working with complex logic and getting into data sets to analysis, understand and churn.

Skills and Experience:

  • Existing Data Analysis experience including Data decision trees, regression modelling

  • SAS experience or another Analytics tools. Not just Analysis but building solutions with algorithms

  • SQL and ideally Python (not essential)

  • Numerate (likely to be Science, Business, Economics or Maths at A Level and likely to have gone on to secure a Degree at University in these sort of areas).

  • Curious about big data and love problem solving complex logic.

  • Retail data analysis nice to have but any sector where you have helped to build algorithms to analyse large data sets.

  • Price forecasting and process elasticity as a Data Analyst nice to have.

  • Any exposure to Bayesian Networks nice to have but not expected

  • Monday and Wednesday in Peterborough, rest remote

This is an exciting time to join this established business going through a period of strong growth which this role will help support and drive forward.
